How to Achieve the Perfect Smile
October 5, 2016
There may not be a default perfect smile but what is important is that your smile is perfect for you, you should have teeth that allow you to smile with confidence when having a photo taken for example. Your teeth don’t have to look like the classic ‘Hollywood’ smile like we see in magazines but clean white teeth that you’re proud of is what you should be aiming for. I used to hate my teeth, always hiding at the back of group shots and smiling with my mouth closed, I ended up going to have veneers fitted with a brilliant local cometic dentist Dr.Peter Spennato and I’ve never looked back. With my new teeth I feel so happy and confident, I’m not self conscious about them when I talk with people nor am I scared to smile at the camera. If you’re not happy with your smile and wish to do something about it then don’t worry, here are some options for you to consider to go and get that great smile.
As much as you may not like the way that they look, braces can have a brilliant effect on your smile. Braces are a wire that fits over the top of your teeth, it is attached with brackets that are fitted to each tooth and the dentist will tailor-make them to move the teeth in the way that you want. Duration of wearing braces can vary, it could be anywhere from 6 months to 2 years depending on how much your teeth move or how much they need to move. If you don’t like the idea of braces then there is a similar product called Invisalign, it is gum shield that fits over your teeth and works in the same way as braces, the benefit of this product is that it can’t be seen by others.
You could also follow in my footsteps and have some veneers fitted, veneers are essentially fake teeth that are attached on top of your existing teeth, they give a perfect finish and one of the other great benefits of having porcelain veneers is that they never stain so you will have a great smile forever. Bear in mind before you opt for veneers that the process involves the shaking down of your teeth, there is no way back once you have decided on this surgery.
Taking care of your teeth may sound simple but it is truly the best way to have a healthy, natural looking smile. I didn’t care for mine sufficiently and that is why I ended up having to have my veneers fitted. If you follow dental hygiene advice then you will ensure that you have healthy white teeth, brush and floss regularly, change your toothbrush every 2-3 months, avoid foods and drinks that can damage your teeth, don’t smoke and drink moderately, those are the keys to healthy teeth and more importantly, a happy smile.
